Moss is harvested by hand and in limited quantities so as not to damage the balance of the ecosystem in which it grows. It is then cleaned and subjected to a process of stabilization and possible coloring. Stabilization is nothing but the dream of a plant. Thanks to the stabilization of moss, all its properties will be preserved, but it will not grow again. This process includes the introduction into the decorative moss juices of a specially created solution, the most important component of which is glycerin (soap). Stabilized decorative moss looks natural, soft and elastic, and at the same time it does not require care and does not fall off the walls. The whole process and the end result are non-toxic and biodegradable.
How to grow stabilized moss with your own hands? It’s easy to grow it yourself – it’s not at all difficult. It can grow on any natural surface. The recipe of the mixture for growing stabilized moss:
One of the easiest ways to grow moss is to mix pieces of moss (3 handfuls), kefir, 0.5 liter, 2 teaspoons of sugar, 2 teaspoons of hydrogel (small colored balls) and some water with a blender. Mix with a blender for about 2 minutes. With this mixture, you can grow moss using a natural base, such as a plank, flexible cortical tile or brick, and wait a few days for it to grow. Apply a thin layer of the mixture on the surface of the base and wait. It is worth remembering that the substrate should be natural and convenient for moss – it will not grow well on plastic or metal. At the initial stages of growth, moss should be covered with a film to accumulate moisture and accelerate growth. To grow a decent layer of moss will take 5 weeks.
In addition, such a moss needs care if it is not stabilized (put to sleep) with a glycerin mixture. But first you should paint the plant with a special natural dye. Then you need to dilute the cubes of glycerin in a boiling water in a ratio of 1: 2. Then pour the moss surface with a hot and thick solution, and in 30 days the moss will go into hibernation and become stabilized.
