Such a diet significantly increases the profitability of the geese breeding business.
Today, the demand for goose grows. After all, large poultry farms supply the market with chicken and turkey meat, but goose meat is produced by small private farms. Nevertheless, geese, like all poultry, have a higher increase in live weight from the feed eaten than farm animals. On this basis, we conclude that the “goose” market is not yet monopolized and has little competition.
It should be noted that the goose itself is not a fastidious bird. They are not painful and are quite simple in content. It is also important that there is practically no waste when breeding geese. The essence of this technology is that young animals from 20-30 days of age are not allowed to pasture. Birds stay in the equipped pens. In the period from 20 to 75 days, geese are given in large quantities food, and fresh greens. At the same time greens are given in the morning and in the evening, which prevents its quick drying. Feed mash in a soaked form in the trough put in such an amount that the chicks ate a portion for 30-40 minutes, it will not allow the mash to sour. After the soaked mash is eaten, it is necessary to put a new batch in the feeder. In just 70-75 days of their height, one goose must eat up to 15 kg of feed and up to 25 kg of various greens.
The diet in the intensive method of growing looks like this:
From 1 to 10 days – 20g of feed and 50-60g of greenery;
from 11th to 20th day – 50g of mixed feed and 100-110g of greens;
from 21 to 30 days – 120g of mixed feed and 200-220 g of fresh greens;
from 31 to 75 days of chick growth every 10 days, increase the portion of feed by 20g, and greens by 100g. Thus, a goose at the age of 70-75 days should receive 220-240g of feed and 700-800g of greenery;
from 1.5 months in the diet of chicks should be introduced premix, corresponding to the age of the bird.
With all this, it is important to regularly give geese clean water for drinking and provide them with a reservoir.
LARGE GUISINE BREEDS FOR BREEDING
Great Kholmogory Goose. In case of successful breeding of geese for meat for business, it is very important to choose the appropriate breed. The most suitable breeds for this are:
Large gray.
Kholmogorskaya.
Italian white.
Kuban.
We suggest starting to breed geese for meat just from the Kholmogory breed. This breed is easily recognizable, its distinguishing mark is a growth over the bird’s beak. It is not recommended to keep birds older than 75 days, because after 75 days of age, feathers actively grow on geese, which then gives the meat rigidity. After 130 days, the growth of feathers ends and the process of gaining fat in a goose begins. That is why geese older than 130-140 days of age are not suitable for slaughter, because the advantage in goose meat is lost due to deposited fat.
